Fox Terrier or Foxy breeds

Under the name Fox Terrier or Foxy include two breeds: Smooth Fox Terrier and Wire Fox Terrier. These two breeds are very similar, the biggest difference is their fur.

General information

The breed was primarily used for hunting foxes (engl. fox). The term Fox Terrier up until the 19th century referred to a group of dogs that were bred for hunting. They called them yet and foxies ", regardless of size or breed. The first Fox Terrier registered, called Foiler or Old Foiler, registered with the Kennel Club around 1875. - 1876. and so the breed has become standardized.



Synchronization breeds has led to divisions in Smooth and Wire Fox Terrier. Smooth Fox Terrier has a smooth, flat but heavy and thick coat, while the Wire Fox Terrier has a coat that looks crazy, although it is thick and curly. Other types

The Jack Russell Terrier is a "Cousin" Smooth Fox Terrier. The breed was started by Rev. Jack Russell in England 1800th and now it is declared an entirely new breed.

Toy Fox Terrier was bred from the small dog Smooth Fox Terrier and they are much smaller dogs today.

Today there are many breeds that have arisen from Fox Terrier breed: Brazilian Terrier, Japanese Terrier Miniature Fox Terrier, Ratonero Bodeguero Andaluz, Tenterfield Terrier and Australian Terrier.
